MISSION
Working alongside stakeholders involved in Montreal’s socio-ecological transition, the Montreal Climate Coalition informs, connects, equips, and mobilizes citizens, political and economic decision-makers, and change agents on the directions, practices, and policies that will ensure a carbon-neutral metropolitan Montreal by 2042.

VISION
By 2042, the 400th anniversary of the City of Montreal, the Montreal Climate Coalition aims to have influenced political leaders, decision-makers in the Montreal community, and citizens to take bold and concrete action to ensure that the City of Montreal achieves carbon neutrality, with a view to a just socio-ecological transition.

VALUES
We believe in the fundamental value of respect for the laws of nature, which facilitate the healthy functioning of multiple ecosystems, of which we are a part. We support formal recognition of the right of all citizens to a healthy and viable environment.

STRATEGIES
We will:

• Encourage actors in the transition to undertake bold and innovative actions so that we can create a society that is in perfect harmony with the environment.
• Influence citizens and various energy-transition actors to work together through democratic consensus-building to define priority actions, as well as implementation strategies, in a shared roadmap to a carbon-neutral Montréal.

We believe that:

• All citizens and actors in the transition must be involved at all levels, so that we can together achieve carbon neutrality.
• The City of Montreal must participate together with other large cities in a world-wide movement to make a viable future for the children of the world, now and in the future.
